anticipation

After many wasted moments of filling out surveys I wracked up enough points to receive a few magazine subscriptions. Yesterday an issue of Paste was waiting for me.


I've been looking at a lot of magazines in the past few weeks for a class of mine and I've been sorely disappointed at the general design and layout of the lot of them. This beauty of a cover had me almost in tears. Having a background in both art and graphic design has given me interesting perspectives on design. For the most part I find computer generated art to be very flat. I am working on bringing texture and interest to the type itself. This masthead really nailed it.

When I opened up to the story I was suprised to find not one single movie still or picture.

Instead you are presented with the emotion and spirit of the work itself.

It must be said that I am insanely excited for Where the Wild Things Are. Dave Eggers is perhaps my favorite author. Spike Jonze is one of my favorite directors and of course the book itself made a lasting impression on me.

It seems that there is no way I can hate this movie, and that is why I'm nervous.

In any case this is a gorgeous spread. I heard Paste might be in danger of shutting down. Let us hope not.
